ELECTION CANDIDATES
DUNEDIN WEST SEAT Mr W. J. Winefield has decided to contest the Dunedin West seat as an Independent.
DEMOCRATIC LABOUR PARTY
The Dunedin executive of the Democratic Labour Party, in a statement yesterday, said that so far only two candidates have been selected to contest Dunedin seats. These are: Dunedin South: Mr G. H. Claridge. Dunedin Central: Mr J. A. Peat. Candidates for the Dunedin West and North seats will be announced shortly.
MRS LEE WITHDRAWS
(Special) AUCKLAND, Aug. 10. At the request of the National Executive of the Democratic Labour Party, Mrs J. A. Lee has agreed not to contest Auckland East, as was her intention, but to make a tour of New Zealand on behalf of all candidates of the party. The Democratic Labour candidate for Auckland East will now be Flying Officer L. S. Dromgoole, aged 31.
WELLINGTON EAST
Mr A. C. Barrington has announced his intention of standing as a Christian Pacifist for Wellington East, at present held by the Minister of Works, Mr R. Semple. He is a lay preacher of the Methodist Church.
