KIWI CONCERT PARTY

(P A ) WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The members of the Kiwi Concert Party, home on furlough from the jMdle East. arP to make a brief tour of the Dominion in aid of patriotic funds. Their concerts will be confined to the four main centres, but arrangements have been made for some to be broadcast. The party numbers anoroximately 30. „ - The itinerary provides for two performances at Dunedin (September 22 and 23), three at Christchurch (September 25, 26, 27) four at Wellington (September 30, October 1,2, and 3), and four at Auckland (October 6,7, 8, and 9). The National Patriotic Fund Board has received a letter of appreciation from Air Vice-Marshal R. V. Goddard, who until recently was chief of the New Zealand Air Staff, for the assistance the national patriotic organisations, and particularly the board had given the R N.Z.A.F. in the matter of welfare and comforts. He also paid a tribute to the work performed under the auspices of the board by Miss Constance Morlce, f.s Dominion secretary of Air Force Relations. A letter thanking Air Vice-Marshal Goddard and wishing him God-speed has been sent by the board. The director of the Country Library Service in a report to the board, states that in' the first six months of this year 40 172 books were issued to the army, navy, and air force units in New Zealand and 11,045 to the forces overseas.
