PATRIOTIC AFFAIRS
MEETING OF DUNEDIN-ST. KILDA COMMITTEE The fortnightly meeting of the DunedinSt. Hilda Sub-zone Committee of the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council was held yesterday, when the chairman, Mr A C. Cameron, presided. Others present were Mesdames T. D. Christensen, Dora Smeaton. A. J. H. Gregory. Gerald L. Ferguson. D. Barton. A. A. Fairbairn, J. H. McDougall, Miss Joyce Thomson, Messrs I. S. Cantrell, A. E. Russell. N. D. Anderson, G. G. Adess, L. B. Bradstock, J. Caldwell, A. Duncan, W. G. Kindley, J. F. Poole, and R. D. Stewart. Mr Bradstock reported that £l6ob haa been paid into the All Purposes Appeal Fund as a result of the schools street day and that another £494 had been raised by direct giving by teachers and pupils, making a total of £2IOO. He thanked all those who had assisted in the street apP Mr Cantrell stated that about £650 had been raised during the last two weekends at the Garrison Hall, where the staffs of the banks were conducting a C3 lt was reported that the Kiwi Concert Party would give concerts in Dunedin on Wednesday and Thursday,’ September 22 and 23. and that the charges would probably be from 2s 6d to 6s. The arrangements were left to the Concert Committee and the secretary of the Provincial Patriotic Council, Mr A. E Russell. The treasurer (Mr Cantrell) reported that £441,000 of the quota of £58,000 was The question of maintaining the policy of direct giving was discussed at length, in committee.
