Liberty Loan.—The amount collected totalled £61,028 16s, being approximately £2OOO short of the quota. Patriotic Dance.—The Patriotic Committee held a successful dance in St. John’s Hall. on Saturday night. , Music was supplied by' Mrs C. Keinan and Mr F Cheyne, with extras by Misses Colleen Coombes and Zenda Gray. Mr W. Carruthers was M.C. > ’ _ „ Mothers’ Union.—The vicar, the Rev. H. Hook, conducted the service at a meeting of St. John’s Mothers’ Union. Mrs Hughes presided. The speaker /was Mrs Hands, of Mornington. who gave an interesting address on " The Beginning of .Children s Prayers.” On the motion of Mrs F. Haynes, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker. ... League of Mothers.—The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held on Friday afternoon, Mrs H. Wilson presiding. Mrs M. E. Paul gave the Scripture reading, and Mrs Saunders., read a paper on the conduct of elections for the League of Mothers. Mrs J. R. Wilson gave the thought, The president extended a welcome to members of the Plunket Society. The speaker was Mrs M. J. ,Williams, who gave an instructive address on France and its moved a vote of-thanks to-the-speaker,, and Mrs James Gray; on behalf of> the' Plunket Society, thanked the speaker and the league for its hospitality.
