NATIONAL SAVINGS
£710,000 FOR LIBERTY LOAN National savings depositors contributed over £710,000 towards Otago’s quota of the Liberty Loan. In a statement yesterday Mr A. Thomas, organiser in the Dunedin area of the National War Savings Campaign, said that this result had been achieved only by fine team work by members of the National Savings Committee, which co-operated with the War Loan Committee. Mr Thomas Thanked all individuals and organisations who had helped in the campaign. "The result is inspiring,” he said, “and is a tangible expression, of the goodwill of the people of Otago to the men overseas. I hope that people with national war savings accounts, whether as individuals or as members of a group, will keep up their contributions, so that Otago will be placed at the top of the list for national savings when the figures for the year are released on March 31 next. All amounts paid in by June 30, 1944, are repayable on June 30, 1946.”
