ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

On Thursday evening last the Women s Transport and the Kaikorai Ambulance Divisions paraded for their annual inspection. There was an excellent attendance of the members of both divisions. The inspection was taken by District Superintendent A. Westfield, accompanied by Corps Superintendent G. R. Syder, Corps Sec. T. H. Mulholland, and Corps Cadet Officer A. J. Symonds. Corps Superintendent Syder was welcomed, and assured of support and co-operation. Each of the officers present addressed the divisions and congratulated them on their excellent record of public duty and their untiring devotion to the performance of the work of the St John Association. The Women’s Transport Division was especially congratulated on its wonderful record of transport hours and work. During the past year its members had recorded 4000 hours on transport duty, and they had attended 200 removals and accidents. During the year members of the Kaikorai Ambulance Divisions had recorded 2471 hours on transport duty, attending to 421 removals and accidents. They had been present at 168 public functions. This performance was very commendable, as half of the divisions' strength was on active service. After the inspection the divisions had supper and said farewell to the secretary of the Kaikorai Ambulance Divisions (Mr C. J. Lloyd, who has been transferred to Auckland on promotion. Several speakers made appreciative reference to the services which Mr Lloyd had rendered to the division.
