DEFALCATIONS BY CLERK
COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE
(P.A.) ' AUCKLAND, May 31. Karl Donald Ifwersen, aged 50, a clerk, to-day admitted' in the Police Court before Mr J. H. Luxford three offences of theft as a servant in the employ of the Auckland Power Board. The sums involved totalled £66 17s 3d„ and were moneys of the board. , •, An official of the board stated in evidence that Ifwersen had been employed as a meter reader for nearly four years, andwhen he left the board’s service on April 1 he was receiving a salary of £6 5s 8d a week. 'On April 1 witness spoke to the accused about an account, and the following week Ifwersen handed witness a .complete list setting out the defalcations which were the subject of the charges. The accused had failed to pay to the board sums he had received from consumers. The offences had occurred between February 23 and April 1. The accused was committed to the Supreme Sourt for sentence.
