FORCES OVERSEAS
GREETINGS EXTENDED (PA.) WELLINGTON, Apl. 22. The president of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association (Mr W. Perry, M.L.C.), in a message to Lieu-tenant-general Sir Bernard Freyberg, stated: “ On the occasion of Anzac Day the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association sends greetings to all ranks. The torch handed to our younger brothers is being carried high. They have not failed.” Messages Were also sent to Majorgeneral H. E. Barrowclough, commanding the Netv Zealand forces in the Pacific, and to Mr Dyett, president of the Returned Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen’s Imperial League of Australia, Melbourne.
Major-general Barrowclough and Mr Dyett have reciprocated the good wishes, the former stating: “ The N.Z.E.F. in the Pacific, when the time comes, will not forget the Anzac traditions."
The congratulations from the association on the achievements of the N.Z.E.F. in Libya reached General Freyberg on the day the New Zealand Division marched into Tripoli. This is revealed in a letter from General Freyberg thanking the association for its inspiring message.
