GENERAL MacARTHUR
SERVING BEYOND RETIRING AGE WASHINGTON, (Rec. 10 p.m.) April. 22. The Under-secretary of War, Mr R. P. Patterson, announced that General Mac Arthur will continue in military service after reaching the retirement age next January. » Mr Patterson said General MacArthur had rendered extraordinary service. There was absolutely no grounds for the belief that he would be retired on his next birthday. The War Department had no intention of retiring him when the statutory age was reached.
