RUGBY. Mar. 14. A Moscow communique states that estimates of Italian losses on the Russian front since the opening of hostilities total 175,000, of which 60,000 were killed, 69,000 wounded, and 46,000 made prisoners. According to information received by the Russians the Germans do not intend to defend Italy in the event of a direct attack. The German fortifications do not extend south of a line embracing the Liguria-Po Valley-Venetian coast, which is designed to defend Germany from the south.
