OCTAGON THEATRE
MUSICAL PRODUCTION IN TECHNICOLOR The beauties of tropical Havana, the pleasure city of the Caribbean, form the background to " Week-end I” l **''.®”®!’ which commenced a season at the Octagon Theatre yesterday. Alice Faye, John Payne,' Carmen Miranda and Cesar Romero play the principal roles in the production, which is filmed in technicolor. Miss Faye portrays a New York shopgirl, who has carefully saved sufficient from her meagre salary to take a holiday at Havana. Reaching the desired destination after a shipwreck which threatened to ruin her plans, she immerses herself in the gaiety of the holiday resort. She is aided by John Payne, who postpones his wedding to make certain she has a good time. He and Miss Faye sing several new numbers, and Miss Miranda introduces a spectacular dance number, " The Nango.” Included in the large cast are Coblna Wright, jun„ George Barbler, Sheldon Leonard, Leond Kinskey, ChrisPin Martin and Billy Gilbert.
