NO IMMEDIATE CHANGE (F 0.P.R.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 12. “The Government has no present intention of introducing legislation to provide for either proportional representation or preferential voting,” said the Leader of the Legislative Council. Mr D. Wilson, when replying in the Council to-day to a question asked by Mr J. A. Hanan. Mr Hanan had inquired whether the Government would introduce legislation to reform the present defective electoral system by providing for a system of proportional representation or for compulsory preferential voting.
