Bowling.—ln the final game of the Dewar Cup competition A. K. Hamilton defeated W. J. Russell by 25—11. In the final of the Ladies’ Championship Singles Mrs H. H. Kemp (one life) beat Mrs E. G. Aimers (two lives) 25—i5, and in the final Mrs Aimers beat Mrs Kemp 25—18. Soldiers Entertained.—On Monday night Gunner Kevin Tbhill and Driver A. Frewen were entertained at a social function. The Mayor (Mr A. McKellar) referred to the excellent war record of both families, and said they were a credit to the district. He presented both soldiers with a wallet and enclosure on behalf of the residents, and expressed the hope that they would soon return to their homes. Mr J Muir (Galloway) also spoke, and Mr J. Frewen, sen., eulogised the work of tire local Patriotic Committee.
