(P A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 11. He had a diminutiverider. but was doing it quite easily. It must rank as the fastest training galloo over the distance ever accomplished on the plough at Trentham. The Autumn and Thompson favourites, Lord Chancellor and Royal Merit, were partners over seven furlongs on the course proper. Royal Merit began brilliantly, and Lord Chancellor was never able to work on terms, the chestnut being two lengths clear at the post after taking lmin 27 3-ssec, the first three in 38sec.

Rakanui went a mile, coming home the last seven In lmin 32 3-ssec.
