TROTTING CLUB

FORBURY PARK COMMITTEE A meeting of the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club was held last night, and was attended by Messrs H. Halliday, vice-president (in toe chair), J. Richardson, C. R. Hadfield. T. Fogg, D. H. Blackte, James Black, D. C. Jolly, A. Ferguson, and A. H. Todd. Mr Richardson presented the programme of events for the winter meeting in May. The largest stake is that of £SOO for toe Ritchie Memorial Handicap, of two miles (4min 33sec class). No stake money will be under a value of £220. The starting time was fixed at 11.30. Repairs and Improvements • Mr Todd, chairman of the Works Committee, submitted a report on certain repairs required on the buildings at toe park, and it was decided to obtain prices for carrying out the work of replacing the tiles on the roofs of part of the main and stewards’ stands. The proposal is to use corrugated asbestos for the roofing. .' YIt was also decided to carry out other improvements on the course at a cost of approximately £SO, and to obtain prices for the installation of four extra turnstiles in Plunket street. Rearrangement of Accommodation Mr Blackie presented plans drawn by an architect outlining a complete rearrangement of the accommodation at toe park. He said that toe proposals included the J scrapping of the outside totalisator, the pulling down of the inside totalisator, and the construction of a new totalisator with 48 selling windows. The present inside totalisator has 32 selling windows. Provision would also be made in the new totalisator for the installation of an electric machine. The present arrangement of one enclosure only is to be permanent. The whole outlay was estimated at about £15,000. Mr Blackie said that the club should endeavour to work on a long-range plan, so that the whcle of the work would extend over a period 'of some years. Presenting his proposals, Mr Blackie emphasised the need for progress on the part of the club to keep pace with the popularity of its meetings. It was decided- to obtain prices for the proposed new planning.
