BISCUIT SUPPLIES
POSITION SLIGHTLY CHANGED The following statement in connection with domestic biscuit supplies in New Zealand has been made by Mr D. I. Macdonald, secretary of the New Zealand Biscuit and Confectionery Manufacturers’ Association: — “Since issuing a statement recently on behalf of the principal biscuit manufacturers, the position of the production of war requirements during 1943 has been somewhat changed. Definite information is not yet available from England and elsewhere to allow the Ministry of Supply and the manufacturers concerned to plan the. revised allocations of 1943 production. As several premature, misleading and unofficial statements have been published, however, I am issuing this statement pending the final production plans being worked out. “ There will, be no greater quantity of domestic biscuits available before Christmas or until well into January than has been the case for some months past. Certain war contracts must still take precedence, as I am sure the public will realise. As soon as the position is clarified retail and wholesale distributors will be advised by the manufacturers and the general public will also be acquainted of the position.”
