RICCARTON NOTES
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 16. A. S. Ellis has a trip to the West Coast in view. He intends to nominate Rawhamai, Gunga Din, Wise Girl, Irish Treasure, and Miss Baffles for the Gveymoiith meeting, after which the first-named pair will be sent back, in order to compete on the final day at Wingatui, while the other three remain for Reefton. While Mrs E. Campbell has taken two of her team to the North Island, Sham Boy will go to the West Coast, where this speedy sprinter should pay his way. The three-year-old King Herod has gone home for a spell, but it will not last long. He will be away only while R. Wilson races Kevin and Junior in the south. After that King Herod will return for a few sprints, in preparation for the Wellington Stakes. Mrs C. Pankhurst will do no racing in the holidays, but her two horses may go south for the second day at Wingatui, after which a trip to Trcntham is probable. Last Effort lost condition with liis recent racing, but is picking up again, while the two-year-old Supercharged is In good order, having apparently suffered no ill-effects from a gallop on the road the day before his last race.
