TRAGEDY AT CAVERSHAM
MAN KILLED BY TRAIN Mr Lewis-Helm, a married man, 60 years of age, who lived at 58 Melville street, was killed at 4.30 p.m. yesterday when he was struck by a train and carried some distance by the engine. Mr Heljn was walking along the line near the Glen, on the town side of Caversham. when two trains were passing, and, in attempting to avoid one, he stepped in the path of the other, and was caught by the cow-catcher Mr Helm was a marine dealer. An inquest will be opened this morning. SOLDIER FOUND DEAD ON LINE ‘(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 9. The body of a United Nations serviceman was found on the railway line near the Manurewa station to-night. It is believed that he was struck by a passing train. He was seen to leave a suburban train at the Manurewa station about midnight on the previous night, and his body was found approximately half a mile north of the station.
