DEFENCE OF SEBASTOPOL DEATH BEFORE SURRENDER fßee. 1.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 17. Sebastopol is still holding out against the terrific German onslaughts conducted with all the forces that the enemy is able to hurl against the •tronghold. The defenders have taken »n oath to die rather than allow the fortress to fall. The latest Moscow communique reports that there was no material change on any of the fronts last night. At Kharkov, some of the initial fury of the German attack seems to have •pent itself. ALLIED RAIDS IN PACIFIC ENEMY BASES BOMBED (See. 1 ajn.) LONDON, June 17. Allied planes yesterday attacked enemy bases in New Gtjinea and Timor. Heavy raids, were made on Lae and Salamaua and direct hits were scored in the target area. On the way back our planes shot down four Japanese aircraft. One of our machines is missing. In Timor, Koepang was the target.
