RICCARTON NOTES
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, May 11. Arctic Dawn was given strong work on the No. 6 grass track this morning. Streamline also went once round on this track, after which A. Leckie schooled him over three brush fences. Including the double, which he jumped in his usual free style. G. Ridgway will take them north to-morrow. Recollection (G. Elliot), who is in good order for his Oamaru engagement, went boldly over three brush fences. Ferriby (A. Leach) followed him in good style over the first fence. He swerved at the first of the double, and ran off at the second leg. On being taken back he cleared it well. T. H. Gillett will leave on Thursday with Dividend and Palfrey, who are to race at the Waikato and Auckland meetings. I. Walther and A. Messervy will accompany him to do the riding. F. Christmas is unlikely to go north with Good Scout and Inquisitor. After his race at Ashburton, it looks as if Inquisitor is not partial to a heavy track. Though he has no definite riding engagements yet, A. E. Ellis intends to go north for the Auckland Racing Club’s winter meeting. Muffler raced badly at Ashburton, the soft gound beating him. He and Stylosa have been eased up and they will have a spell for about two months.
