READY TO ATTACK

PREPARATIONS IN BRITAIN GREAT FORCE BUILT UP (Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON. May 11. Viscount Halifax, British Ambassador to the United States, broadcasting to the people of the Netherlands on the second anniversary of the invasion of the Low Countries, said: “ In the British Isles a great striking force is being built up. When the day comes this force will be launched with a single purpose on the Nazis, and the German people will be shown that the war will be very different from that which Goering prophesied when he promised them that German planes over England would be. so thick that the English birds would ask what had happened to the sun.

“It is our turn now,” said Lord Halifax, “ and we will decide what sort of war it is going to be.” He said that supplies of ships, planes and munitions were going across the Atlantic to' Britain at a rate the Germans never bargained for.
