CO-OPERATION ASSURED

LABOUR ORGANISATIONS CONFERENCES WITH PATRIOTIC MOVEMENT The Patriotic Committee was now assured of the hearty co-operation of the Otago Labour Representation Committee and the Otago Trades Council, stated the chairman, Mr A. C. Cameron, at a meeting of the Dunedin-St. Kilda Sub-zone Committee yesterday. Together with Messrs G. W. Lane, W. G. Kindley, and J. Caldwell, he had attended conferences with representatives of these bodies, when matters relating to the various patriotic appeals, had been fully discussed, he said, and these meetings had been entirely successful. He felt that the air had been cleared and could see no reason now why the Patriotic Committee should not work harmoniously with the Otago Labour Representation Committee and the Otago Trades Council. Other members enlarged on what the chairman had said and indicated that they had found that, once misunderstandings had been removed, there was nothing but a spirit of goodwill. Mr Cameron nut forward several suggestions which, he said, he felt would tend to assist towards better co-operation in the future, and these were adopted. It was agreed to invite both the Otago Trades Council and the Otago Labour Representation Committee to appoint delegates to the Sub-zone Committee and also to meet a sub-commit-tee of these two organisations at an early date to discuss the question of closer co-operation in the interests of the patriotic campaigns. , It was reported that the Australian baritone Peter Dawson, together with several well-known assisting artists, would present a patriotic concert in Dunedin early in June. Mr G. Z. Lindley was appointed to make the necessary arrangements. It was also reported that a shop would be opened in Princes street at an early date in connection with the “ V ” camapign, arrangements for which were now nearing completion. Mr W. R. Sinclair had agreed to undertake arrangements for the provision of a "V” book, in which members of the public who wished to make certain donations would be invited to sign their names. The book would be held as a permanent record in the city archives.
