VEHICLE IMPRESSMENT
APPEAL TO TRUCK OWNERS POWERS VESTED IN MINISTER (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 3. A further appeal to truck owners to assist in obtaining .the requisite number of vehicles required for the use of armed forces was made to-day by the Minister of National Service, Mr R. Semple, who said he was conscious that in many instances owners were making a great sacrifice because the vehicles in many cases had been purchased from their savings to ensure their further livelihood. Mr Semple added that he derived no pleasure from asking his fellow citizens to make this sacrifice. It was a duty imposed by dire necessity, but he would make no apologies for exercising the authority vested in him. All he was doing, he said, was to play his part and do his duty to the people of the Dominion in the interests of their welfare and safety.
