WASTAGE OF PETROL
USE IN MILITARY CAMP BOROUGH COUNCIL PROTESTS (P A.) NAPIER, Jan. 27. The Napier Borough Council has decided to enter a strong protest because, as it alleges, 100 gallons of benzine are being used in one military camp each week for cooking arrangements A councillor said that the people had been told by an eminent authority that benzine was more precious than gold, and this wastage was going on in the face of an offer by the gas company to install a cooking plant at 5 per cent, per annum on the capital cost, plus the cost of the gas. ~ , ~ , Another councillor considered that an unnecessary wastage of petrol was occurring, apart from the existence of danger which might threaten adjacent buildings. __
