PERMISSION TO TRAVEL
SPECIAL OFFICER APPOINTED On and after Saturday, passengers who desire to travel by rail more than 100 miles from Dunedin must, before purchasing their tickets, obtain permission to travel. , An officer specially appointed for the purpose will, from this morning, be in attendance at an office in the vestibule of the Dunedin Railway Station, to consider applications from prospective passengers, and those who propose going by train further than the specified distance must be prepared to give their reasons for travelling. All applications will be considered on their merits. ~ In connection with the reservation of seats, passengers will not be granted this privilege on and after Saturday next for journeys of less than 100 miles by express, mail, and passenger trains.
