AIR COMMUNICATIONS

BRITAIN AND AUSTRALIA NO INTERRUPTION (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 13. In spite of the spread of the war to the Far East, the Empire air communications between Great Britain and Australia' and New Zealand remain unbroken. In normal times the Empire route ran through Burma and Malaya, but when the extension of the war to the Far East appeared likely, steps were taken to ensure that, in the event of hostilities, the Empire line would be unbroken. Surveys were made, and refuelling and mooring facilities for the big flying boats were prepared, and when Japan entered the war the new route was put into operation immediately.
