FREE KINDERGARTENS

The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Council was held on Thursday afternoon in the R.S.A. committee room. The president. Mrs R. A. Ewing, was in the chair, and the following members were present:— Lady Sidey,' Mesdames Cameron, Cowie, Dykes, Gallaway, Garrett, Glendining, Greig, Haggitt, Halsted, Harly, Hudson. Paterson. Scoular, Smeaton C. V. Smith, Wright and Miss Scott

The principal, Miss A. J. Duthie. reported that the Kindergartens were very busy and beautiful places, full of Christmas preparations. The children were recovering from all epidemics, and attendances were improving rapidly. The following dates were arranged for the closing functions, to which all interested friends and parents are invited. Tuesday, December 16. 10 a:m., N.E. Valley; 2.30 p.m., Richard Hudson Wednesday, December 17, 10.30 a.m., Kaikorai; 2.30-p.m., Kelsey-Yaralla; Thursday, December 18. 10.30 a.m., R S Reynolds; 2.30 p.m.. St. Kilda.

, The following appointments were confirmed by the Council:—Director at North-East Valley. Miss Joyce Thompson; assistant, Miss Joyce Barnes; assistants for 1942—Misses M. Just V Taylor, Z. Samuel, N Currie and M. Smith. Arrangements were completed for the presentation of diplomas the following students having finished their training and passed the necessary examinations:—Misses M Blair. N. Currie and M. Smith.
