GIRLS' LIFE BRIGADE
DIVISIONAL COUNCIL MEETING At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Divisional Council or the Girls' Life Brigade there was a full attendance of officers and representatives from all the church governing committees. Mr Gilman Dunn (president) occupied the chair. The Rev. B. Tasker, chaplain of the Ist Bat-* talioh conducted a short devotional .period': , -j ,: . ■ s The ■ annual •, report and; balance sheet showed that steady progress had been, made, practically'every company report*; ing a full programme of work over th&: year, and every 'phase—spiritual, mental!' physical ..and social—had been given its place. The activities had included a divisional concert held in the Concert Chamber in July in aid of patriotic funds, £l7 being' handed .over.: The value of the movement as an ideal mid-week organisation on a spiritual basis, under the control of the church, and offering many avenues of development and' service, was being Increasingly recognised by minisr ters and church, boards. Extension work had included the formation of a company at the Roslyn Baptist and Cargill Road Methodist Churches, with the likelihood of one being formed at Ravensbourne Congregational Church, ' i - .The report and' balance sheet were adopted.
Mrs Dunn was elected divisional president, the Rev. W. A. Stevely divisional chaplain. Mrs W. A. Stevely vice-presl* dent, the Rev. B Tasker chaplain to Ist Battalion, and the Rev. R. S Watson chaplain to 2nd Battalion. ■ . A divisional camp will be held from January 9 to 13 for officers and girls.
