Grants Recommended The Electricity Committee recommends that a grant of £5 be made towards the Waipori Falls School Picnic and Prize Fund. The Gas Committee recommends that a grant of £2 7s be made to the Gasworks Cricket Club to cover the charge made by the Reserves Department for the use of a wicket. As a contribution towards the cost of conducting the recent "Weapons From Waste" exhibition, the Finance Committee, recommends that a grant of £5 be made to the Junior Chamber of Commerce. The Gas Committee states that a report has been received from the gas engineer submitting proposals for increasing the sales of gas appliances. A suggestion that the present delay in signing up hire-purchase agreements be obviated has been approved and the matter referred to the gas engineer and the city treasurer for attention. The further suggestion that a standard charge be made for fitting appliances has also been approved and in future all fitting, up to a maximum of 10 feet, will be fitted free of charge. charge of Is per foot will be made for all work in excess of this length.
