GENERAL WEYGAND
VIRTUALLY UNDER ARREST
GENDARMES OUTSIDE VILLA
(Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 24. The Madrid correspondent of the Daily Mail says General Weygand is virtually under house arrest, and an officer\is with him at Antibes, where he is Gendarmes are also posted outside his villa. These are reported to be " protecting"- him from indiscreet inquirers, but the real reason is to prevent him from return* ing 'to Africa. There has been a perceptible increase in German activities in French North Africa since General Weygand's dismissal, says the Tangier correspondent of the Daily Telegrpph. The German police have already i.aKen up duty at Casablanca.
