BOROUGH OF ST. KILDA

FORTNIGHTLY MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the St. Hilda Borough Council was held last night, and was attended by the Mayor (Mr N. D. Anderson), Crs G. Glue, 1. D. B. Roy, J. C. Cherry, R. S. Brent, W. Rutherford, J. H. Hinton, H. H. Johnson, A. H. Finnie, and E. Longworth. Lifting of Rails Advice was received from the town clerk, Dunedin, that in accordance with a request by the St. Kilda Council, the Transport Committee of the City Council had agreed to lift the old railway line running from the Tahuna tram terminus to Onslow House.—Received. Military Camps A letter was received from the Minister of Defence (Mr F. Jones) advising that when the complete programme of military camps for the period commencing in January next was being, arranged, the council's representations regarding the continued use of Forbury Park and Wingatui racecourse would receive consideration.—Received. I Finance Accounts amounting to £527 15s 2d were passed for payment. It was reported that receipts during the' fortnight ended that day had totalled £392 16s Id. and that the bank balance at present showed a credit of £ 1505 7s 3d—Noted. Water Consumption The town clerk reported that 4,339,000 gallons of water, at a cost of £l7l 17s 7d, had been consumed during the fortnight ended at noon that day, compared w*ith a cost of £159 9s 8d for the previous two weeks.—Noted. Foreman's Report The report of the foreman (Mr J. Clyma), which outlined the work carried out during the past fortnight, and, at present in hand, was adopted.
