MANCHESTER UNITY

The meeting of Loyal Prino; of Wales Lodge was opened in mourning out of respect to the memory of P.G. B:ro. A. Bell, who had been a lodge member for 50 years. One candidate for membership was proposed, and the lodge adjourned to assist in the installation of officers in the juvenile branch. The officers of the Juvenile Council were present and controlled proceedings. The following were promoted in office: N.G. Bro. D. R. Lysaght, V.G. Bro. Ron. Gibbs; E.S. Bro. W. Twiss, Warden Bro. O. Carruthers, Guardian Bro. J. Twiss, I.P.N.G. Bro. S. Larkins, and Conductor P.G. Bro. J. B. Larkins. Each officer was presented with a group photograph in recognition of their having won the recent initiation ritual contest. N.G. Br«. W. Cowie controlled proceedings at the meeting of Loyal Dunedin. Much diicussion arose over the matter of

medical benefits under the new order. Members were assured that everything would be done to help them, and a proposal of proceedings outlined, met witn general approval. On the occasion of the celebration of Him fiftieth anniversary of his wedding, P.G. Bro. J. G. Patterson, of Loyal Hand and Heart, was the recipient of congratulations from his lodge. Bro. Patterson hat been a member of the mother lodge of tha district for over 57 years. The meeting of Loyal Roxburgh Lodge was controlled by N.G. Bro. G. P. Wel« ham. The principal discussion centred round medical benefits. A feature of the meeting of Loyal Caversham Lodge was a farewell to P.G. pro. Griffiths, of Loyal Wanganui Lodge, who had been a respected and willing member. Per. Sec. Bro. Isaac conferred the first, second, and fourth degrees on a number of eligible brethren. Bro.
