OMAKAU
Lawn Tennis Club—The opening day was held on Saturday, when there was a large muster of players and visitors. The president, Mr F. J. Donnelly, extended a welcome to these, and declared the courts open. Players later played informal games. The iVlaniototo Lawn Tennis Association matches will begin on November 1. and the Omakau Club will enter teams in the A and B Grades. The draw will be announced next week. Bowling Club.—The Omakau Bowling Club will probably open on November 8. and a meeting of the committee is to be held this week to make arrangements. The green is not quite ready for play, but promises to be in good order for the opening. The official opening of the centre will be held at Cromwell on Saturday, while the Clyde Club will open on November 1. Sodliers’ Parcels.—The Omakau District Soldiers’ Social Committee has completed the despatch of Christmas parcels to all members of the armed forces who have left this district. A number of parcels were also forwarded by the OmakauOphir Women’s Institute. Personal. —Mr P. Child, of the Omakau postal staff, has taken up relieving duty at the Clyde Post Office.
