Daffodil Day.—On Sunday two trains Conveyed Just bve'r’ 1000 excursionists to Lawrence. Buses and taxis transported the visitors to Wetherstones. where the 40 acres of daffodils in full bloom created a pleasing sight in their picturesque setting on the hills. The Waverly Boys’ Band was in attendance and during the afternoon r.ehde'red selections, which were much appreciated bv the large crowd. Flower Show.—The special prize* awarded at the Lawrence spring show were as follows:—Cut flowers. Mr William J. Milne; decorative, Miss P. M. Haworth: needlework, Miss Reta Higlilcy: baking, Mrs L. D. Tonkin: knitting. Miss Reta Highlev; fruit and vegetables, Mr D. Martin: weight-guessing competition. Mr E. M. Brown. Farmers’ Union.—At a meeting of the Lawrence branch of the Fanners' Union, presided over by Mr J. A. Robertson, it was unanimously resolved to approach the Lawrence School Committee and Progress League with the request that the school excursion to Dunedin should be revived this year. It was pointed out that.the resumption of the excursion from Dunedin should be reciprocated, and the visit would prove of educational value to country school children. Personal. —Mrs M. A, Smyth has returned from a two months’ visit to the North Island.—Leading Aircraftman R. G Cotton is spending a few days leave in the district.—Miss E. Goodlet has returned from Omakau.
