During the first six months of the current financial year, which commenced on April 1, £3OOO was received by the National Council for the Reclamation of Waste Material from the sale of waste material. About half this sum is from sales of waste paper. In the previous financial period of nine months ended March 31 the council paid £5041 to patriotic funds, to which are Riven the proceeds of his activity. Thsse figures are given in the latest bulletin issued by the council, which states that it is hoped that between £IO,OOO and £15.000 will be raised this year. The raising of money for patriotic funds is secondary to the reclaiming of material for New Zealand industries. The bulletin states that the drive for cleaning rags was very successful, and the immediate requirements of the Air Force were met. On the present returns it is estimated that the patriotic funds will benefit by £I2OO for the value of thess rags. A further appeal is to be made later, when the same organisation will be used.
