THE CANARY ISLANDS
OCCUPIED BY NAZI AIRMEN AMERICA'S REACTION AWAITED (Rcc. 1 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 7. A Lisbon message states that the Spanish-owned Canary Islands have been occupied by the German Air Force and that 500 planes of various types have reached the islands. The American reaction to this statement is awaited and the impression prevails that Genera] Franco must have acquiesced.
