AMERICAN MISSION
BRITISH FACTORIES VISITED (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 23. Major-general C. M. Wesson, Chief of the United States Ordnance, and Mr J. D. Diggers, United States Minister in Charge of the Office of Production Management, together with other American Ministers and military officials, visited several armament factories in the Midlands on Tuesday. Major-general Wesson said the object of the visit was to find out what help could best be given by United States industry to the British fighting services and to get an insight into the output of British factories. “ Your men in the factories,” he said, “ are doing their best and doing a very good job.” Mr Diggers said he had been very impressed by the number of women at work in the factories and by the types of work they were doing. He had also been impressed by the way British manufacturers had converted their peace-time machine to the manufacture of war materials. “We have the same problem still ahead of us,-but I am sure we shall be able to profit by your experiences,” lie said.
