FORCING BULGARIA IN HITLER MEETING BORIS DISCUSSIONS AT THE FRONT (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 18 The Daily Express correspondent on the German frontier says Hitler is reported to have summoned King Boris to the eastern front headquarters to discuss Axis plans for Bulgaria’s entry into the war against Russia.
The Istanbul correspondent of The Times, referring to Bulgaria’s reported purchase of Italian destroyers and a possible passage through the Dardanelles to the Black Sea, says; “Britain informed Turkey that as Bulgaria is regarded as a belligerent, the granting of such passage would be a violation of the Montreux Convention.”
