Robins occupied the chair at the annual meeting of the Waitaki High School Old Boys Association, held at Oamaru on Wednesday night. Mr Robins said, not only for the association, but also for the school, owing to the retirement of Mr F. Milner. Mr Milner had been an outstanding headmaster. not onlv in New Zealand, but throughout the Empire. To the old boys, the chairman said that when they left school they had not left Waitaki, as they would always have the privilege of being Waitakians. They should not merely pay flip service, but could assist the association in many ways. The chairman paid a tribute to the work done for the association by Mr H. K. Sumpter. Mr A. C. Piper congratulated the executive on the sound position of the association. This, he said, was a monument to the work of the secretary (Mr H. P. Members agreed that it was desirable to take steps immediately to bring the matter before branches and old boys, and thus give sufficient time to old boys abroad to contribute to the subscription fund. It was finally agreed that the matter should be left In the hands of the executive, with power to co-opt the assistance of local old boys General The chairman explained lhat it was proposed that the McCulloch memorial should take the form of electric synchronised clocks at the school; but at present manufacturers at Home were engaged fully on war work, and it might be some time before the clocks could be procured. It was agreed to forward ’’ the Waitakian ” to the huts and clubs and associated institutions with the New Zealand Forces overseas. Mr H. K. Sumpter reported that the Auckland branch’s activities in forwarding parcels to old boys on overseas service had met with great success.
