NEW APPOINTMENTS MADE A number of teaching posts In schools throughout the Otago district were altered as the result of resignations and appointments accepted and approved by the Otago Education Board at its meeting yesterday. The following resignations were accepted:—Headmaster. Kurow District High School, Mr Douglas R ; Blyth; head teacher, Waipahi. Mr Wilfred J. McDowall: sole teacher. Inch Valley, Mr Allan D. Strachan; infant mistress, Palmerston District High. Miss Sara R. Martin: assistants—Anderson's Bay, Miss Edna M. Routlodge: Concord. Mrs Vida M. Samson; Duntroon. Miss Mary L. Fordyce; Kaikorai, Miss Wihifred A. Herbert. , ' . Appointments were confirmed as follows: —Headmaster, Alexandra District High, Mr Douglas R. Blyth; sole teacher. Tawanui, Mr Edgar C. Watt (soldier); infant mistresses—Kaitangata Mrs Vida M. Samson; Owaka District High. Miss Mary L. Fordyce: Roxburgh District High. Miss Avis E. Suckling; Clutha Valley District High, Miss Edna M. Routlcdge; assistant, special class. Green Island, Miss Winifred A. Herbert; assistants —Kaitangata, Miss Ethel D. Jackson; Oamaru Hospital. Miss Elma L. White; occupation centre. Miss Thelma L. Thomson. Direct war appointments were made as follows: —Head teacher, Walton, Mr Harold B. Laytham; sole teachers— Houipapa, Miss Mary D. Cowie; Taumata, Mr John H. Gazzard; Tawanui, Miss Jesie C. Borland: woodwork instructor, North Otago, at Oamaru. Mr George H. Stevens. Miss Annie T. H. B. Gumming was transferred from St. ( Leonards to Concord as an assistant teacher.
