MASTER OF TASMAN SAILING SHIPS One of the earlfest of the master mariners engaged solely in the New Zealand-Australian trade, Captain William Neagle, died in Melbourne last month in his ninetieth year. For many years Captain Neagle sailed barques of the line owned by the late Mr J. J. Craig across the Tasman Sea. One of his commands, the barque Alexander Craig, formerly the Kathleen Hilda, is still doing duty as a coal hulk in Auckland harbour. -..««■ Besides the Alexander Craig, Captain Neagle at different times commanded the Margarita, afterward the Constance Craig. The Constance Craig was later lost without trace while on a trip from Gisborne to Hokianga. When the James Craig was sold to the New Guinea Exploration Company before the last war Captain Neagle sailed the vessel for delivery to Port Moresby, New Guinea. Captain Neagle lived In retirement in Melbourne. He did not marry.
