Mrs George Burden, who was the guest 6f Mrs John Edmond, has returned to Mount Burk. Mrs C S. Reid is visiting her daughter, Mrs I. Mcßean Stewart, of Ti Tipua, Gore. Miss Cecilia Holmes, of Mount Harding, Methven, who has been the guest of Mrs G. F. McKellar, has returned to her home. Miss Stewart Hamilton, director of the Newtown Kindergarten, has accepted the position of director of the new Pre-school Child Educational Centre in Dunedin. .
Sir Evelyn Wrench, founder of the Overseas League, and Lady Wrench, will arrive in Dunedin on the afternoon of July 1 and leave on July 4. They will be entertained at an evening party in the Somerset Lounge on July 3 by the Overseas League.
- Miss H. E. (Betty) Archdale,. who was captain of the English women’s cricket team that toured New Zealand and Australia in 1934-35. is now a second officer in change of a party of “ Wrens ” serving in Singapore. Miss Elsie Gertrude Thorpe, aged 22. who is the first woman in New Zealand to graduate as a Bachelor of Agricultural Science and received her degree at Massey College last week, intends to do research work in the meat and wool industries. *
Miss Delight Lynn, formerly of Dunedin. who has been for four years secretary .of the Young Women’s Christian Association in Rangoon. Burma, has taken oyer the secretaryship of thg Wellington branch, replacing Miss L. W. Bridgitfan. who will leave soon for a new, post in Singapore.
