THE AMERICAN NAVY
A PRACTICE MANCEUVRE MINES IN NEW YORK HARBOUR NEW YORK, , (Rec. 8.30 p.m. J . ■ June 14. The navy has warned shipping that extensive mine-planting operations will occur in New York Harbour in the next .'fortnight. The mines will be loaded, but will detonate only from electrically - controlled mechanism ashore. ■ The navy said it was merely a practice manoeuvre.
