PRACTICAL PSYCHOLOGY
The subject discussed last Thursday evening at the Psychology Club was " Progress Through Mental Efficiency." It was stated that life was not for mere passing pleasures; tt was an oppoitunity for service. A person who was Inefficient tailed in his service to his fellows. By always seeking ease a person in reality chose the path of difficulty and trouble. Only by following the rri'ore strenuous way of self-improvement and efficiency could one finally enjoy ease and comfort. This implied discipline. There needed to be perfect confidence in one's own ability to make progress. A fear of weakness, or a dread of one's own inefficiency, undermined self-confi-dence The coupling together of will and desire through fixation and concentration was the sure way to mental efficiency.
