ALLIED ENTRY INTO MERJ IYUN EFFORTS TO PREVENT BLOODSHED (Rec. 2 a.m.) LONDON, June 13. The confirmation of the Allied entry into Merj lyun is reported by a correspondent who witnessed the action. For three days the forces did all in their power to prevent bloodshed. Envoy after envoy was sent under cover of a white flag in an endeavour to reach an agreement, but the French refused to do so, and within a few hours the British attacked, taking the town easily.
