SCHOOL CHILDREN
EVACUATION MEASURES SCHEME FULLY ORGANISED IDENTIFICATION LABELS. The scheme which has been prepared for the evacuation of children from schools to, their homes in the event of emergency is now in full working order and the co-operation of all parents to ensure that all children always wear their identification labels is requested by the Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen). The scheme ensures that children can be- seen to their homes within 30 minutes of the sounding of an alarm, and in cases where this is impossible, that temporary billets are available for
them. Parents are being advised of the billeting home, and the organisation is such that everything will work smoothly and quickly. Practices are, being held in the schools, and thev are being attended by members of the evacuation and accommodation committee. It is required under the scheme that nupils of all schools shall wear at all times an identification label on which is written tire name, address and school of the wearer. It has been found that some narents do not approve of the wearing of this label by their children. It is worn; under the clothes, and surprise is expressed by members of the committee that there should be any objection, since the whole purpose of the label is to guard the- child against becoming lost in the event of an emergency. v
