AN ITALIAN GRENADE.—This example of an Italian hand, grenade has been sent home by a Dunedin soldier in the Middle East. The explosive has, of course, been removed. The detonating device is exposed by tearing off the metal protector to which the small ring is attached. Thousands of these grenades, which proved ineffective in action, were captured by the Imperial forces, who now use them for “ dynamiting ” fish in the Mediterranean.
