HOME GUARD SERVICE
APPEAL BOARD’S INTERESTING DIRECTION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 12. Dealing with the case of an appellant enrolled in the Home Guard, the Armed Services Appeal Board has given a direction of wide interest. An appeal was brought to consider whether the appellant should be required to perform alternative service. The board directed that it should be a condition of the appeal, which was adjourned sine die. that the appellant, who had voluntarily enrolled in the Home Guard, should remain a member of that organisation, and that he should comply with the conditions of service therein.
It is required of the Home Guard authorities in such cases that they notify the Man-power Committee if the appellant fails at any time to perform satisfactorily such service as is required of him.
