WAITAKI OLD BOYS

• • DUNEDIN BRANCH The annual meeting of the Waitaki High School Old Boys’ Association (Dunedin Branch) was held last night, the chairman. Mr R. McMillan presiding. ' The annual report showed that there were 210 members on the branch roll, (including 32 on active service, at April 30. The accounts showed that the year had been a satisfactory one, there being a credit balance of £54 19s 7d. During the year the committee learned that, despite considerable help from the rector and others, the school band still owed a considerable amount of money on some new instruments which had been purchased. Normally, concerts would have been given in Oamaru, and collections made to reimburse the band for its outlay, but owing to, the war, the band had been called; on to play at a number of patriotic functions, where of course, its services were .free. A sum of £lO was given and a suggestion was made to other branches that they should also contribute to this fund. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Chairman. Mr L. A. Fisher; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. J. Tonkin: committee —Town members, chairman, immediate past-chairman, secretary and Messrs J. N. Murdoch, J. R Benson, R. W. Crombie. L. D. Hudson, D. W. McGregor. N. Y, A. Wales, R. S. Glendining and C. R. Hedges: country members—Messrs D Bews. A. B. Armour and J. W. Blakely: auditor, Mr C. R. Caffin.
