OUTSTANDING COURAGE
AWARD FOR AIRMAN (Rec 3 p.rri.J RUGBY May 20 A member ot the Royal Air Force Acting Flight Lieutenant Lloyd Watt Coleman who gained the D.F.C last November has now been awarded a bar The citation said: “Coleman captained a bomber in a night attack on the Benina Aerodrome this month He displayed great skill and tenacity m locating the target, which was eventually observed by parachute flare He carried out a most determined attack with bombs and machine guns from heights varying from 3000 feel to 900 feet destroying at least two Junker 52‘s on the ■ ground and damaging others. Afler returning from this operation Coleman was driving in a lorry when a plane coming in to land crashed and burst into flame Coleman immediately ran to another plane nearby and. although bombs and petrol tanks were explod ing. he started the engine and taxied the plane to safety He has continuously displayed outstanding courage and devotion to duty.’’
